Armenian pro-government MP backs gas imports from Azerbaijan
Armenia could consider importing natural gas from Azerbaijan in the future to enhance its energy diversification and security, Babken Tunyan, an MP from the ruling Civil Contract party, told reporters on Wednesday.
He highlighted that Armenia previously imported natural gas only from Russia before Iranian gas supplies to the country.
“The possibility of gas purchases from a third supplier enhances the country’s energy security and independence,” the MP stated.
“Armenia could also consider gas imports from Azerbaijan if it stems from the country’s interests,” Tunyan said, adding it depends on the gas price and quality.
