Yerevan to host Meghraton exhibition and sale of bee products
Meghraton exhibition and sale of honey and other bee products is set to take place at Yerevan's Yeraz Park on September 28-29. The event is designed to promote and boost the sale of Armenian honey and other bee products in the local market by creating a unique platform for interaction between producers and consumers. It also aims to foster collaboration among sector-specific institutions. The event will kick off on September 28, at 10:30.
Already a tradition, Meghraton is organized by the Beekeeping Forge Scientific-Educational Center and is co-financed by the USAID-funded Rural Economic Development-New Economic Opportunities (RED-NEO) Program.
The event will feature professional discussions on the existing challenges and opportunities in the beekeeping sector, as well as master classes on production technologies and marketing channels for bee products. It will also incorporate exceptional music and dance performances, organizers said.
Additionally, Meghraton will feature a presentation of the concept for the advanced educational, scientific, and industrial beekeeping center to be established in the Margahovit settlement of the Lori region. The initiative is made possible through joint investments by the “Beekeeping Forge” Scientific-Educational Center and the Sustainable Inclusive Growth in Mountainous Armenia (SIGMA) project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The center, set to become operational in spring 2025, will offer a range of fee-based services including training, quality assurance, diagnosis and treatment of bee diseases, purchase and sale of queen bees and bee colonies. The center will include specialized laboratories for queen bee breeding and bee disease diagnostics, as well as a workshop for manufacturing wax sheets and beehives. In the long term, it will also feature a facility for the production of honey and other bee products.
This year the Meghraton exhibition is set to bring together about 40 companies specialized in production of honey and other bee products.
