The government has decided to remove Mikayel Minasyan's brother from his position as minister, continuing its repressive measures
For three days, members of Armenia's ruling "Civil Contract" faction have been collecting signatures to dismiss Justice Minister Grigor Minasyan.
According to Zhoghovurd newspaper, MP Arpi Davoyan initiated the process after securing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's approval.
The report states that the decision to remove Grigor Minasyan is linked to his brother Mikayel Minasyan, former Ambassador to the Holy See and son-in-law of Armenia's third president, Serzh Sargsyan.
It’s important to note that Mikayel Minasyan is one of Pashinyan's political rivals, whom the Armenian government has been targeting for seven years.
The newspaper added that while Grigor Minasyan's dismissal is a priority for the ruling party, they have not yet found a replacement. Additionally, the government has reportedly decided to remove Minasyan's ally, Karen Andreasyan, chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council.
