Artsakh president commemorates 2020 war anniversary
Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan on Friday visited the Yerablur Military Pantheon in Yerevan to pay tribute to fallen soldiers on the fourth anniversary of the 2020 Artsakh war.
“On this day four years ago, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack on Artsakh, why not on Armenia as well, with the support of Turkey, Israel and other countries,” he told reporters at Yerablur, stating that the strong resistance and counterattacks by Armenian forces helped prevent far more catastrophic consequences of the war.
“I believe that the outcome of the 44-day war predetermined Artsakh’s fate, and the developments in 2023 stemmed from it,” Shahramanyan said.
In response to the question about those responsible for the 2020 war defeat, he said: “Many criminal cases have been launched in Armenia, a relevant parliamentary commission also investigated the war and will probably release its report in the near future to help us draw appropriate conclusions.”
“We have our own opinion, but there are criminal probes that have been announced,” Shahramanyan added.
