‘National disgrace': Opposition leader slams Pashinyan's meeting with Erdogan in New York
Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the opposition Hayastan faction in the Armenian parliament, said opposition forces were striving to prevent the 2023 Artsakh exodus and Armenia’s “collapse” over the past four years.
Speaking to reporters at Yerevan’s Yerablur Military Pantheon on the fourth anniversary of the 2020 Artsakh war, Ohanyan pointed to the opposition resolutions on Artsakh rejected by the parliamentary majority, as well as street protests aimed at change of power in Armenia.
“We need broader consolidation to succeed,” the politician said.
Separately, he decried Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s latest meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in New York and a viral photo of Pashinyan smiling broadly and holding Erdogan's book tight as “national disgrace”.
“Meeting with a leader whose country committed genocide and supported the genocide against the Artsakh people is a national disgrace,” Ohanyan said, adding Turkey and Azerbaijan are putting pressure on Pashinyan to extort more concessions from Armenia.
Also, Ohanyan unveiled plans to attend the blessing of Holy Muron at the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin along with some of his fellow Hayastan MPs on Saturday.
