Serzh Sargsyan won't attend re-consecration of Etchmiadzin cathedral
Third Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has refused to attend the blessing of the Holy Chrism (Muron) on Saturday and the re-consecration of the Mother Cathedral in Etchmiadzin on Sunday.
His office told 168.am that Sargsyan was invited to both ceremonies by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, but had to decline the invitation, citing the presence of the Armenian authorities there.
“Serzh Sargsyan thanked the Catholicos of All Armenians for the invitation and told him that, unfortunately, he cannot attend the ceremonies because he deems it impossible to participate in any event alongside the current anti-national Armenian leaders,” the office explained.
