Opposition MP: Armenian top court seeks to cover up possible concessions to Azerbaijan
Opposition MP Artsvik Minasyan accused Armenia’s Constitutional Court of “manipulating and misleading” the people in its decision on a border deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The top court ruled on 26 September that the regulations for joint activities of the Armenian and Azerbaijani commissions dealing with the border delimitation process complied with the Armenian constitution. The Constitutional Court also implied that provisions of the Declaration of Independence contradicted Armenia’s constitution and were invalid.
“The Declaration of Independence marking the birth of the Armenian statehood cannot possibly contradict Armenia’s constitution,” Minasyan told reporters on Tuesday.
“The court aims to cover up the possible concessions [to Azerbaijan] under the peace treaty or any other document in the future,” the MP added.
