NSS warns against violations ahead of Yerevan protest
Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) has warned against calls for violence and seizure of power ahead of a rally in Yerevan called by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.
“The NSS calls on opposition political forces to refrain from calls for, or actions aimed at, seizure of power, violent overthrow of the constitutional order and use of violence against a person or a group of persons at the rally scheduled to be held at Yerevan's Republic Square on October 2,” the law-enforcement agency said in a statement.
“At the same time, reiterating that any action threatening the constitutional order and security of the country will entail appropriate criminal and legal consequences, we call on participants of the rally to demonstrate law-abiding behavior and not to give in to provocations,” reads the statement.
