Azerbaijan cut down thousands of trees in Armenian state reserve, ex-ombudsman warns
Azerbaijan has cut down thousands of trees in Shikahogh State Reserve of Armenia’s Syunik Province, continuing its crimes in the occupied territories of Armenia, former Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan warns.
“The fact-fining mission has revealed that Azerbaijani servicemen are mercilessly destroying Armenia’s nature,” he says in a video.
“According to our preliminary study, more than 10,000 trees have been felled as a result of the construction of tens of kilometers of military roads. Nature and environment are simply being devastated,” Tatoyan states, adding that Armenian border villagers lack access to drinking water, their pastures and other property.
Tatoyan underscores that the ongoing Azeri crimes inside Armenian territory confirm its lack of commitment to peace with Armenia.
