Opposition MP slams Pashinyan over peace deal talks
Opposition lawmaker Artur Khachatryan hit out at Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for his refusal to disclose the draft peace agreement with Azerbaijan.
“Maybe, the Armenian people does not approve the document,” he told a press briefing on Thursday, accusing the premier of breaking his promise to refrain from behind-the-scenes talks.
“Obviously, the current Armenian authorities continue their policy of negotiating whatever they want with Azerbaijan. It’s just a piece of paper labeled as a “peace treaty”, but they wouldn’t say what is written inside,” the Hayastan faction MP stated.
Khachatryan underlined that Baku keeps making new and tougher demands after every concession from Armenia. He said Azeri demands could even refer to the so-called “revanchism”.
“For example, Vazgen Sargsyan Street in central Yerevan can be regarded as a manifestation of “revanchism”. I don't rule out such a scenario at all. The more you concede, the more the enemy demands,” the deputy added.
