Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan vows continued push for Pashinyan's ouster
Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan vowed to continue street protests aimed at toppling Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government and stopping his territorial concessions to Azerbaijan.
He managed to address the nation live on the Armenian Public TV late on Wednesday after agreeing to answer questions from its talk show host Petros Ghazaryan.
Galstanyan called for broader consolidation around the protest movement to remove the “government of evil”. Also, he said businesspeople “serving the ruling regime have no right to remain silent” amid security threats facing Armenia.
“We will keep fighting until you leave,” he said, addressing Pashinyan.
The archbishop's comments came after thousands of protesters led by him rallied outside the government headquarters in Yerevan's central Republic Square in a renewed push for change of government.
The next rally is scheduled for Sunday.
