Azerbaijan ramping up military purchases, Armenian MP warns
Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has warned bout Azerbaijan’s ongoing large-scale acquisitions of weapons amid its threats of force against Armenia.
At a press briefing on Thursday, Abrahamyan, who represents the Pativ Unem faction, said that the models and amounts of the weapons acquired by Baku remained largely unknown.
He pointed to Azerbaijan’s new demands to Armenia, including the country’s demilitarization, for a peace deal between the two countries.
“Currently, the Armenian authorities are trying to concede to all of Azerbaijan's demands, but Baku keeps imposing new preconditions in parallel to Armenia’s concessions, coupling them with blackmail and threats,” Abrahamyan stated.
