Armenian mayor's brother released hours after arrest
The younger brother of Gevorg Parsyan, the mayor of the town of Kapan in Armenia’s Syunik Province, was arrested on Thursday evening.
The Hraparak daily reported that the Anti-Corruption Committee petitioned a court to remand Hovhannes Parsyan in custody pending an investigation.
However, the mayor’s brother was set free a few hours after his detention as the court rejected the request.
"At the moment, we can only say that the court rejected the motion and Hovhannes Parsyan was released," the Anti-Corruption Committee told Hraparak.
