Turkey unveils statue of Merih Demiral making 'wolf salute' at Euros
A statue of Merih Demiral has been unveiled in the Turkish city of Balu today, with the mayor presenting it to the public, Tribuna reported.
Notably, the statue depicts the player making the same banned 'wolf salute' that landed him in hot water over the summer.
As a reminder, during the Euros, Demiral received a two-match ban for performing the extremist salute after scoring in Turkey's win over Austria.
The gesture is linked to the far-right Grey Wolves group, which prompted a UEFA investigation that concluded Demiral's actions violated the sport's standards.
