Shoghakat Vardanyan's '1489' wins top prize at Buenos Aires film festival
Shoghakat Vardanyan‘s “1489”, which follows the director’s family after her brother goes missing in action, has won the best feature-length film prize at the 12th International Documentary Film Festival of Buenos Aires (FIDBA).
The award was handed over to Armenian Ambassador to Argentina Hovhannes Virabyan, the embassy reported on Sunday.
The film earlier picked up documentary festival IDFA‘s best film prize.
“1489” revolves around the disappearance of the filmmaker’s 21-year-old brother, Soghomon Vardanyan, who went missing in the early days of the Artsakh war in 2020.
