No one injured in Yerevan market fire, deputy minister says
No one was injured in a fire that broke out at Domus hypermarket in Yerevan on Monday, Deputy Interior Minister Kamo Tsutsulyan said.
Firefighters contained the blaze two hours after its eruption with efforts underway to extinguish it.
“No explosion occurred in the fire. Blast sounds were heard during the firefighting as the glass exploded due to the high temperature,” Tsutsulyan told reporters.
According to preliminary data, the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring. The market employees tried to put out the fire themselves before seeking help from emergency workers.
“There were no casualties. None of the rescuers were also injured,” Tsutsulyan added.
Fourteen fire brigades are working on-site.
