Ex-ombudspersons to hold protests in Yerevan ahead of COP29 in Baku
Protests demanding the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages illegally detained in Azerbaijan have commenced in different countries of the world ahead of the UN climate change conference (COP29) in Baku in November.
Former human rights defenders of Armenia and Artsakh also plan to stage protests outside the UN office in Yerevan, as well as the Russian, U.S. and French Embassies, on October 11, to call for efforts towards the release of Armenian prisoners and hand over letters to them.
Former Artsakh Ombudspersons Yuri Hayrapetyan, Ruben Melikyan and Artak Beglaryan, as well as former Armenian Ombudsmen Arman Tatoyan and Larisa Alaverdyan, have joined the initiative.
The protests are scheduled to begin outside the UN office at 11am.
