Tensions run high outside Prosecutor's Office in Yerevan
Tensions ran high outside the Prosecutor General’s Office in Yerevan on Wednesday as riot police started detaining protesters.
Supporters of the Holy Struggle movement led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan gathered outside the Prosecutor's Office to demand criminal charges against Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for the 2023 ethnic cleansing of Artsakh.
The demonstrators threw coins featuring Pashinyan's and Aliyev's portraits on the ground.
"The police obstructed our protest, using violence against the participants,” political analyst Karen Bekaryan said.
