Artsakh war probe nearing completion, Investigation Committee chief says
Armenia’s Investigation Committee is close to finishing an investigation into the 2020 Artsakh war, its chairman, Argishti Kyaramyan, said on Friday.
“We are nearing the final stage and the overall situation is already clear to us,” he told the Public TV Company in an interview in response to a question about whether the probe has established the reasons for Armenia’s defeat in the 44-day war.
“In total, indictments against more than 600 people have been sent to court. Regarding about 100 more individuals, discussions are underway to finalize the investigation of the cases and submit them to court.
“We treated all this not just as criminal cases. We also attached great importance to the historical significance of these criminal proceedings, trying to address all episodes as objectively as possible.
“In some cases, even ordinary soldiers were questioned to clarify the course of military operations. The total number of cases is about 2000 volumes,” Kyaramyan said, adding that trials in some of the criminal cases will be closed.
