Opposition MP deplores Pashinyan's comments on transport routes
Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has criticized Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's latest statements on Russian monitoring over transport routes passing through Syunik Province as false and contradictory to his previous comments.
''According to the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, Russian FSB representatives may be assigned certain monitoring functions to see to what extent Armenia fulfills its commitments,'' Pashinyan said at a forum in Yerevan on Saturday.
"Doesn't Pashinyan know the difference between ‘monitoring’ and "control’,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook on Monday. "I am sure he knows it perfectly well, but he is promoting another lie."
"Control is a broader term that also implies monitoring, but the term 'control' also implies management of a situation, which may include a broader mandate for ensuring communications.
"Nikol Pashinyan signed the document on 9 November 2020, but he and his teammates portray it as something that happened during the reign of King Pap," the deputy stated.
