Armenia ranked as 'free' country in Freedom on the Net 2024
Freedom House has ranked Armenia as a “free” country in its annual report Freedom on the Net 2024: The Struggle for Trust Online.
Freedom on the Net is an annual study of human rights in the digital sphere. The project now assesses internet freedom in 72 countries, accounting for 87 percent of the world’s internet users. This report covered developments between June 2023 and May 2024.
According to the report, Armenia’s online environment remains open, improving during the coverage period because the government did not block websites or social media platforms. However, the government did detain people over online speech critical of the government, and individuals in the country have frequently been targeted with spyware.
