17th-century church in Armenian village undergoes renovation
Surp Astvatsatsin Church (Holy Mother of God Church) in Gndevaz, a village in Armenia's Vayots Dzor Province, is undergoing renovation.
In total, 137 million drams were allocated from the state budget for the restoration of the 17th-century church.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reported that the Gndevaz church renovation was a matter of urgency to save its frescoes – unique 400-year-old works of art.
Foreign specialists are also involved in the renovation work.
