Armenian deputy PM says ratification of regulations with Azerbaijan simultaneous
Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan believes that the ratification of regulations for joint activities of the Armenian and Azerbaijani border delimitation commissions is a simultaneous process.
Armenia and Azerbaijan signed the border agreement on August 30. The Constitutional Court later ruled that the regulations complied with the Armenian constitution.
“The process is proceeding synchronously. I just don't know at what stage the process is in Azerbaijan. The very logic of signing the document suggests that the process will be simultaneous,” Grigoryan told reporters before parliamentary debates on the ratification of the agreement on Monday.
The Armenian official dispelled fears that Azerbaijan could refuse to ratify the border regulations.
Grigoryan also explained why the trilateral working group on unblocking regional communications, co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia, had suspended its activities.
“There are key issues that require consensus. Until that happens, discussing details makes no sense,” he added.
