Armenia releases Leo's song for Junior Eurovision 2024

Armenia has released its delegate Leo’s song and music video for Junior Eurovision 2024.

“Cosmic Friend” is a story of an intergalactic friendship that knows no boundaries, spreading across the cosmos. Leo is convinced that music is the universal language—one that everyone understands and speaks, from planet Earth to the billions of other planets and galaxies around us. He is set to unite the universe and its inhabitants through his joyful song, and not even the aliens can resist the beat! Yet, a question remains - who is the mysterious cosmic friend? The next stop for this cosmic party is Madrid!

Leo’s passion for music comes naturally — he grew up in a family of singers, so music has always been a part of his life. Participating in Junior Eurovision has been a dream come true for him. Besides singing, Leo loves to create, and write stories that fuel his vivid imagination.

"I’m very happy about the premiere of the song. It’s about my alien friend. The filming of the video was fun and it felt like a dream. It is my first video, and I really like the result. I look forward to your feedback!" said Leo enthusiastically.

The music for “Cosmic Friend” was composed by tokionine (David Badalyan), with lyrics by Vahram Petrosyan and Maléna. Artur Manukyan directed the music video, and Armen Galyan designed the costumes.

Artur Manukyan, the director of the music video, shared his thoughts: "I’ve known Leo since birth and have had the chance to work with him on various projects. It’s remarkable that Leo’s first performance was at the prestigious Dolby Theater in Los Angeles when he was just 1 year old, and I was the director of that concert, making me the first director in Leo's life. Leo is a naturally charismatic artist, and I approach working with him very carefully to ensure we preserve his authentic charm, allowing the audience to see the real Leo. In line with the theme of the song, the video is filled with vibrant scenes, dance, and dynamic elements. We used a futuristic decor that will mentally take us to the universe. Long story short, in the music video Leo is performing in interplanetary space. Both the song and video have a victorious energy that we’re sending into space, hoping it will return to the stage in Madrid during Leo's performance, creating a truly unique experience.

"The expectations for Armenia in this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest are very high, as we've consistently placed in the top three for several years," says David Tserunyan, the Head of the Armenian delegation. This year, we’ve taken our participation with great responsibility and are proud to present another hit song. Once again, we’ve entrusted the song to David Badalyan, who wrote Maléna’s winning entry, with lyrics by Vahram Petrosyan and Maléna herself. We hope the fans will love Leo and his “Cosmic Friend” as much as we do, along with the music video directed by Arthur Manukyan. Our delegation is currently in the active preparation phase, and we’ll soon head to Madrid for our first rehearsals."

So, are you ready to join Leo on his universe adventure?

This year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place in Madrid, Spain, on November 16 under the theme "Let’s Bloom".
