Catholicos Karekin II not invited to religious leaders' summit in Baku
His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, has not received an invitation to the upcoming religious leaders’ summit in Baku.
The summit, scheduled for November 5-7 as part of COP29, is expected to bring together around 200 religious leaders and scholars. Their visit to Azeri-occupied Artsakh is also planned.
Lawyer Gevorg Danielyan, a member of the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Armenian Apostolic Church, said Baku’s failure to invite Catholicos Karekin II to the summit could be expected.
"Remarkably, the religious leaders and scholars invited to the summit don't seem to be concerned about the outright anti-religious stance of the host country," he wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
