Analyst: Artsakh attacked under Trump, depopulated under Biden
Political analyst Suren Sargsyan has reacted to U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump’s strong criticism of the Biden-Harris administration for inaction in the face of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in September 2023.
"Kamala Harris did NOTHING as 120,000 Armenian Christians were horrifically persecuted and forcibly displaced in Artsakh. Christians around the World will not be safe if Kamala Harris is President of the United States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“The fact remains that Artsakh faced an attack under the Trump administration and was depopulated under the Biden-Harris administration,” Sargsyan wrote on Facebook on Friday.
He pointed out that the U.S. and other countries condemned Azerbaijan but failed to take concrete action to stop its attacks and ethnic cleansing in Artsakh.
“That’s one of the reasons why the Armenian organizations have not endorsed any of the U.S. presidential candidates,” Sargsyan underscored, adding the candidates’ pro-Armenian statements are part of their election campaign.
“Anyway, the candidates’ statements and policy positions are crucial as they pave the way for further engagement with them to advance the Armenian agenda, including the recognition and condemnation of the ethnic leaning in Artsakh,” the analyst added.
