Armenian Yerkrapah Union head under fire over latest remarks
Sasun Mikayelyan, the chairman of Armenia’s Yerkrapah Volunteer Union (Homeland Defenders Union), has come under fire after his remarks regarding the peace process with Azerbaijan.
Speaking to reporters at the Yerablur Military Pantheon on the 25th anniversary of the Armenian parliament attack on Sunday, Mikayelyan stated that Armenia “cannot resist Azerbaijan" and defended the border delimitation process. Also, he accused the former Armenian governments of "plunder" amid Azerbaijan's acquisition of "modern weapons and military equipment”.
“How do the veterans of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union tolerate Sasun Mikayelyan? He sends them to the border and then announces that ‘we cannot fight against Azerbaijan’,” Hetq editor-in-chief Edik Baghdasaryan wrote on Facebook on Monday.
