Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has dismissed the Armenian leadership’s “groundless” assurances that Azerbaijani troops will have to withdraw from the occupied sovereign Armenian territories following the border delimitation process.

In a social media post on Tuesday, the MP from the opposition Pativ Unem faction stated that international documents, resolutions or laws “don’t help prevent aggression and occupation of territories by some countries.”

“In this sense, the agreements signed by the Armenian authorities are fragile and allow Azerbaijan to play it by ear,” he wrote.

Abrahamyan warned of risks posed by a provision in the Armenian-Azerbaijani framework agreement on the regulations for joint activities of their border delimitation commissions, which allows for fragmentary border delimitation.

“This is a mine that can blast anytime, leading to unexpected developments,” the deputy stated.
