Armenia's top investigator regrets clash with pro-government MP
Armenian Investigative Committee Chairman Argishti Kyaramyan regretted his involvement in an altercation with pro-government MP Hovik Aghazaryan in the parliament on October 15.
The two engaged in a heated argument after Aghazaryan accused the Investigative Committee of attempting to intimidate people with unjustified arrests. The lawmaker also inquired about the criminal case initiated against his son.
In response, Kyaramyan rhetorically asked Aghazaryan why at least two persons had approached him seeking favors regarding the criminal case.
Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee is probing his claims of attempted interference in the investigation.
“I’d like to express regret over the incident in the National Assembly,” Kyaramyan told reporters on Wednesday.
The top investigator also announced his readiness to apologize to the people for the parliament clash.
