Armenia needs peaceful and safe Georgia, MP says
Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan stressed the importance of stability, peace and security in Georgia for Armenia.
In a social media post on Wednesday, the deputy from the Pativ Unem faction highlighted that the outcome of Saturday’s vote in Georgia, as well as the post-election tensions, stemmed from a dispute over war and peace.
“Both the authorities and the opposition seek European integration, but their tactics are different,” he wrote, stressing that the ruling Georgian Dream party strives to make sure relations with Russia are not hostile given its geopolitical role.
“Opposition forces have taken a hard line on Russia, but have differences regarding some issues. I believe the ruling party won the elections because its peace formula was more acceptable to large groups of Georgian society. The incumbent leadership warned of renewed war with Russia and casualties in the event of the opposition victory.
“One thing is certain: Armenia needs a stable, peaceful and safe Georgia,” Abrahamyan stated.
