Opposition MP criticizes Armenian government for Turkey's involvement in regional processes
Armenia's incumbent authorities are engaged in “stiff competition” with Azerbaijan on who is more committed to involving Turkey in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and bestowing it a major role, opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan claims.
“The government can brag about its unprecedented efforts to completely involve Turkey in regional processes and allow it to play first fiddle as the success of the year,” he wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
“Only here has Armenia's leader surpassed Ilham Aliyev and outpaced all possible competitors in pleasing Turkey.
“At the time when [second Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan initiated the process of “football diplomacy”, there were different opinions about the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. However, even the biggest critics of this process stated that as a result of Armenia's delicate and flexible policy, Ankara’a efforts to intrude into Armenian-Azerbaijani relations failed,” Abrahamyan underscored.
