Foreign minister: Armenia's participation in COP29 in Baku not ruled out
Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has not ruled out the possibility of Armenia’s participation in the UN climate summit in Azerbaijan.
“Our participation in COP29 has not been confirmed. We’ve received an invitation but have not officially responded to it,” he told parliamentary debates on the 2025 draft state budget on Thursday.
“At the same time, Armenia’s participation is not ruled out either,” Mirzoyan said in response to opposition MP Armen Rustamyan’s question.
The lawmaker asked the minister to say whether the Armenian authorities planned to make their participation in the summit conditional on the release of Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan.
