Opposition MP: Armenian leadership has illusions about normalization with Turkey
Armenia’s authorities have illusions about building relations with Turkey, a country whose leader called Azerbaijani victory in the 2020 war against Armenia a guarantee of peace in the region, claims MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction.
In a social media post on Thursday, he pointed out that Turkey continued to link the normalization of its relations with Armenia to the conclusion of a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku despite the Armenian leadership’s renunciation of the Armenian Genocide recognition campaign and efforts to give Ankara a greater role in the settlement of relations with Azerbaijan.
“Simply put, as long as Armenia does not agree to Azerbaijan's preconditions, Turkey will continue its policy of blockade and hostility towards Armenia,” Abrahamyan wrote.
