Lawmakers express grave concerns about U.S. participation in COP29 in Baku
Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS), Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), and Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), along with Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Congressman David G. Valadao (R-FL), Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC), and Congressman Bryan Steil (R-WI), sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressing grave concerns about U.S. participation in COP29 in Azerbaijan, reports the Armenian Assembly of America.
The letter raises critical concerns and poses significant questions:
1. What actions will the U.S. delegation take at COP29 to facilitate and support ongoing peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia?
2. How can the Department of State enhance its support for negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia prior to the commencement of COP29?
3. Should Azerbaijan fail to make substantial progress towards a peace agreement with Armenia, how will this affect U.S. participation in the conference?
