Analyst: Trump and Biden only US presidents who held no meetings with Pashinyan
Donald Trump and Joe Biden have become the only U.S. presidents who have held no meetings or phone calls with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, political analyst Suren Sargsyan states.
The last high-level Armenia-US contact took place before the change of power in Armenia in 2016 when then President Serzh Sargsyan held a phone call with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.
“Nikol Pashinyan has never met with Trump and Biden or spoke with them by phone during their four years of presidency,” he said in an Imnemnimi podcast episode on Wednesday.
“There has never been a president in Armenian history who has not met with his American counterpart. Armenia's first President Levon Ter-Petrossian met with Bill Clinton, second President Robert Kocharian met with both Clinton and George W. Bush and third President Serzh Sargsyan met with Barack Obama and had a phone conversation with Mike Pence.
“This is the only case when the last two U.S. presidents had no engagement with the Armenian leader. These are just numbers and historical facts,” Sargsyan remarked.
