Yerevan theater staff protests outside HRD office
Employees of Yerevan’s Goy Theater on Wednesday held a protest outside the office of Armenia’s human rights defender (HRD), demanding response to the violation of their rights.
The theater artists oppose the Armenian government’s decision to merge the Goy Theater into the Sundukyan Theater, staging a sit-in outside its building for a few days.
They have also asked Armenian Ombudsperson Anahit Manasyan to react to the situation.
“Back in February, we submitted a thorough appeal to the human rights defender, but we have not received any conclusion, decision or just an assessment of our violated rights yet. We have come here to understand the reason for her silence. How long do we have to wait?” said one of the theater artists.
