Russia says Armenia's statements indicate its reluctance to take part in CSTO events
Armenia’s statements revel its plans to distant itself from all formats of cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin told journalists on Friday.
When asked about Yerevan’s possible participation in the upcoming CSTO events, including a summit on late November, he said that this question should be addressed to the Armenian side, TASS reported.
"But judging by the Armenian side’s statements, it is distancing itself from absolutely all formats of the CSTO activities at various levels," he said.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said earlier that "the CSTO poses threats to Armenia’s security, its future and sovereignty." Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at an international security forum in Warsaw that Yerevan was considering all risks of its potential withdrawal from the CSTO.
