Armenian MP calls for tough response to destruction of Artsakh heritage
Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan calls for a tough international response to Azerbaijan’s destruction and desecration of Armenian religious and cultural heritage in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
In a social media post on Wednesday, Abrahamyan, who represents the opposition Pativ Unem faction, spotlighted the widespread destruction of the Stepanakert districts, as well as the property left behind by the displaced Artsakh Armenians.
“The countries and international organizations calling for the restoration of the Artsakh people’s violated rights and their repatriation would keep the spotlight on the destruction of Stepanakert if they really meant it,” the MP wrote.
“International organizations generally react to the destruction of Artsakh’s religious heritage, but their statements do not deliver any serious consequences.
“If the Artsakh issue is not merely a tool of pressure on Azerbaijan for geopolitical actors, they should deliver a tough response to deter Azerbaijan,” Abrahamyan stated.
