Armenian government reduces financial aid for Artsakh refugees
The Armenian government on Thursday approved a decision to reduce financial aid for the displaced Artsakh Armenians.
Starting from April 2025, only children, pensioners, persons with disabilities and survivor’s pension recipients will receive assistance, which will gradually decrease from the current 50,000 drams to 40,000 drams and then to 30,000, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan announced.
The changes aim to encourage able-bodied refugees to find employment and come after the launch of the state housing support program.
At today's cabinet meeting, Mkrtchyan underlined that many Artsakh refugees, around 25,000 people, had found jobs or were engaged in entrepreneurial activities.
"They include a large number of people aged 18-60. We believe that state support should be made more targeted and provide for long-term solutions,” he added.
