Expert: Armenia pinned hopes on 'European fairy tales' and became isolated
Arthur Khachikyan, an international relations expert from Stanford University, claims the Armenian government’s poor foreign policy in the past six years is to blame for the current challenges facing the country.
Speaking at the forum “Global Security and Geopolitical Challenges” in Yerevan on Saturday, the political analyst stated that in case of pursuing a balanced foreign policy, Armenia “would have gained much more in relations with Russia, the West and Iran.”
“We’ve become isolated due to miscalculations and diplomatic failures, and are now engaged in begging and nagging. We should not have spoiled relations with Russia and should have established real relations with Europe and Iran. Instead, we pinned our hopes on European fairy tales and ended up like this,” Khachikyan added.
