Russia remains committed to ensuring Armenia's security, envoy says
Russia remains committed to its security obligations towards Armenia, including through the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin announced.
In an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia on Monday, the ambassador was asked on the prospects of Armenia's possible participation in a CSTO meeting scheduled for 28 November and whether Yerevan’s move to freeze its CSTO membership had impacted bilateral ties with Moscow.
“When it comes to ensuring Armenia’s security, we stick to the stance that there are no comparable real alternatives to the Russian-Armenian allied cooperation, including within the CSTO. Russia remains committed to ensuring Armenia’s security both bilaterally and through the CSTO,” Kopyrkin said.
