Drivers not using winter tires will face fines in Armenia
The Armenian government decided to ban the use of passenger cars and cargo vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons from November 15 to March 31 if they are not equipped with winter tires.
Driving a car during the winter season will be forbidden if the tire tread depth is below 4 mm, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan said at a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
The drivers flouting the rules will be fined 5,000 drams. If the violator's vehicle is involved in a road traffic accident, the fine will amount to 20,000 drams.
