Nikol Pashinyan: The world views Armenia as a 'martyr nation'
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan claims Armenia is considered as a “'martyr nation” by the international community.
“The world views us as a “martyr nation”. In general, the message we want to send to the world is the following: we consider the greatest mission of our government to be overcoming the “martyr nation” status,” the premier told lawmakers on Tuesday, saying such a conclusion was based on his “impressions of the past 6,5 years about the average perception of Armenia's image in the world.”
Pashinyan said the proposed option for overcoming the perception had been the adoption of the nation-army concept for a long time.
“However, I am not sure that this is right. My reflections lead to the conclusion that the nation-army concept is a logical continuation of the “martyr nation” formula,” Pashinyan said, stressing the need to promote the “statehood” concept.
