Georgian Dream leader denies resignation rumors
Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Garibashvili has dismissed reports claiming he has resigned from his position and left the ruling party, Front News Georgia reported.
In a statement shared on social media, Garibashvili accused ‘opposition-controlled media outlets’ of spreading false information to mislead the public and create unnecessary unrest.
“Today, media controlled by the radical opposition spread a lie that I have left Georgian Dream. This disinformation serves only one purpose—to mislead the public and generate artificial agitation,” Garibashvili wrote.
He emphasized his commitment to his current role, stating, “I continue to serve as the chairman of Georgian Dream and remain a member of our team. Any information to the contrary is false.”
Garibashvili’s remarks come after reports from TV Pirveli and Mtavari Arkhi reported about his departure from the party and a potential move into business. Georgian Dream representatives have also rejected these claims as baseless.
