Armenian ruling faction head says expelled MP didn't deny leaking classified information
MP Hayk Konjoryan, the head of Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract faction, accused former party member Hovik Aghazaryan of leaking confidential information, including on national security matters.
Aghazaryan was expelled from the Civil Contract party on Tuesday.
Konjoryan claimed that Aghazaryan did not deny the accusations at the party’s board meeting.
“Hovik Aghazaryan was involved in a number of criminal probes into information leaks,” Konjoryan told reporters on Wednesday.
He denied any pressure on the deputy to give up his parliament seat.
"He was requested to resign," Konjoryan added.
