Mkhitaryan stars as Inter beat Parma to extend unbeaten run
Inter comfortably dispatched top-flight newcomers Parma 3-1 at Giuseppe Meazza in the opening game of Serie A Gameweek 15. Despite taking 40 minutes to open the scoring, there was never a shred of doubt Simone Inzaghi’s side would claim three points, OneFootball reported.
After seeing an early penalty and an opening goal disallowed by VAR, Inter found a crucial breakthrough late in the first half through Federico Dimarco. The Italian wingback scored with his weaker right foot after exchanging a quick one-two with Henrikh Mkhitaryan to fire the Nerazzurri 1-0 up at the break.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Nicolo Barella doubled Inter’s lead. Mkhitaryan was the assist provider again, but the diminutive midfielder did all the heavy lifting before scoring with aplomb. Marcus Thuram landed a knockout punch in the 67th minute after being left unmarked inside the six-yard box.
However, Inter failed to keep a clean sheet as second-half substitute Matteo Darmian scored a sloppy own goal to set the final score. Without further ado, let’s look at our Nerazzurri player ratings.
