Opposition MP: Artsakh issue remains unresolved for international community
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan claims the Armenian government’s conciliatory and defeatist policies led to Artsakh’s (Nagorno-Karabakh) military takeover by Azerbaijan in 2023 and created security challenges for Armenia.
Speaking to reporters after an event hosted by the Artsakh representative office in Yerevan on Artsakh’s Independence Referendum and Constitution Day on Tuesday, the Pativ Unem faction deputy also underlined that the international mediators did not exercise all their levers to stop the Azerbaijani aggression and full occupation of Artsakh.
“Various international actors, countries and organizations have announced that the Artsakh issue remains unresolved and have stressed the need for the full restoration of the Artsakh people’s rights, so there is a lot of work to do here,” Abrahamyan said.
At the same time, he accused the Armenian leadership of failure to cater for Armenian interests.
“Artsakh served as a “bulletproof vest” for Armenia, as evidenced by Azerbaijan's attacks and occupation of Armenian territories after 2020,” the MP added.
