Remarkable exhibits from Bronze and Iron Ages go on display at Yerevan museum
The History Museum of Armenia on Wednesday launched the international exhibition “Yesterday and Today: In the Footsteps of Jacques de Morgan”.
The exhibition has been organized in collaboration between the History Museum of Armenia and the National Archaeological Museum of France, with the support of the French Embassy in Armenia and the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
Within the framework of the exhibition, five remarkable exhibits from the Bronze and Iron Ages, excavated in Akhtala in the 1880s by famous French archaeologist Jacques de Morgan (1857-1924), have been brought from France to Armenia for the first time and will be displayed in the History Museum of Armenia, together with more than six dozen archaeological objects found in various archaeological sites by the Armenian-French expeditions since the 1990s and kept in Armenian museums.
The History Museum of Armenia also collaborated with the French Institute of the Embassy of France in Armenia, the French Heritage Institute, the Erebuni Historical-Archaeological Museum-Reserve, the Shirak Regional Museum, the Scientific Research Center of the Historical and Cultural Heritage, as well as with specialists from various institutions.
The exhibition runs through 11 March.
