Report on Armenia's 'dragon stones' presented at online congress
Armenia participated in the 9th International Congress World Heritage of CIS Countries.
Representatives of Armenia's Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, as well as the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences, joined the online conference, the ministry reported on Friday.
Researcher Mariam Shahmuradyan presented a report on the vishapakars (“dragon stones”), unique and mysterious monuments in Armenia, and their role in world heritage.
Specialists from Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan and other CIS countries shared their experience of including monuments in the territory of their countries on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The prospects of cooperation also were outlined at the congress.
