Expert: Turkey the main mastermind of Syria's fall
Varuzhan Geghamyan, a geopolitical strategist and regional security expert, has reacted to Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) chief Ibrahim Kalin’s visit to the Syrian capital Damascus on Thursday.
Geghamyan shared a photo from his visit on social media, writing: “The photo shows Ibrahim Kalin leaving the Umayyad mosque of Damascus, one of the main shrines of the Islamic world, surrounded by special forces and a crowd.”
“Kalin’s visit is symbolic not only because he is Turkey's number one person responsible for military and political actions beyond the country's borders (it was MIT that coordinated Turkey's military operations in Syria, Iraq, Libya and, of course, Artsakh).
“His visit to Damascus is also symbolic because it is Turkey that is the main mastermind and beneficiary of the fall of Syria and now it is time to collect laurels. And the criminal, as they say, always returns to the scene of the crime,” the expert added.
